Kennedy Lecture in honor of Professor Robin Gottfried
Thu, November 14, 2013 - 4:30 pm
International trade and policy expert Dennis Appleyard will give a lecture in honor of recently-retired economics professor Robin Gottfried. Appleyard will discuss the dynamics of domestic and international inequality using data since 1976. He will examine several of the possible factors underpinning these changes while also touching on several topics of Gottfried's particular interest, such as trade, development and religion.
Dennis Appleyard is an accomplished economist and was an important mentor to Gottfried at UNC-Chapel Hill. He has published extensively in the area of international economics and has coauthored one of the major undergraduate textbooks in the field. Appleyard, who has been the recipient of several teaching awards, continues to view the opportunity to teach international economics in this age of growing globalization as a rare privilege and an enviable challenge.
The lecture will be given at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, in Convocation Hall. A reception will follow the talk. Everyone is welcome.
